This document outlines the terms and conditions of all Turas Adventures. It details what you can expect from Turas Adventures and what your fellow adventurers can expect of you. To ensure that Turas Adventures is the right fit for your trip of a lifetime, please read it carefully before completing your reservation request.
Tour price guarantee Tour prices do not include airfare, and may change without notice due to fluctuations in exchange rates and trip expenses. However, once you pay your deposit on your adventure, your tour cost is guaranteed.
Tour features Unless otherwise arranged as part of a custom adventure, all tours include small groups of no more than 8 adventurers; the cost of all group tours and admissions; all breakfasts and dinners; all accommodations; all group transportation from the first to the last accommodation; all tour gratuities; and Tour Cancellation/Interruption Protection.
Tour limitations Unless otherwise arranged as part of a custom adventure, airfare is not included in the tour price. Adventurers are responsible for the cost of drinks (including alcohol), lunches, any free-time sightseeing, optional activities or independent travel during the tour.
Itineraries are subject to change We offer adventures, not just tours: that means flexibility is paramount when the road throws you an extra curve! Deviations to the published itinerary will not incur any additional cost to you, but uncompleted portions of the tour itinerary are not cause for refund.
Tour payments To secure your place and lock in the price of your adventure, you must agree to the terms outlined here and provide a tour deposit of $500 per person, add-on tour deposit(s) of $100 per person per tour, and optional single supplement deposit of $100 per person. We accept Discover, MasterCard and Visa for all tour payments. We also accept your personal check written on a US bank account in US dollars payable to "Turas Adventures." Half of the balance is due 4 months prior to the start of your adventure, with the full balance due at least two months prior to the start of the tour. Payment due dates will be listed on your initial confirmation letter and tour invoice. Please mark your payment due dates on your calendar, as missing the payment deadlines may result in your being removed from the adventure! If you sign up for a tour less than four months before its departure, half of the full tour price will be due upon registration; if you sign up for an adventure less than two months before its departure, full tour price will be due upon registration.
Solo travelers and single supplements Adventurers traveling solo are not subject to mandatory single supplements often required by other tour companies: you will likely room with another tour member of the same gender. Those wishing to guarantee a private room may do so by paying the optional single supplement fee. If a private room is not available when you register for your adventure, we will notify you immediately and you will have the option to cancel or reschedule your adventure. Please note that a single supplement guarantees ONLY a private room, not a private bathroom, as many accommodations do not offer single rooms en suite. Single supplements canceled less than two months prior to the start of your adventure will be forfeited.
Returned payments Payments returned unpaid for any reason will be assessed a $35 returned item fee per occurrence, which will be added to the applicable tour balance and must be paid in full prior to your tour departure.
Transferring to another tour Should your plans change, up to 60 days prior to your tour’s departure you may transfer to any other tour in the same calendar year with space available, applying your existing balance paid to the cost of the new tour with no transfer fee.
Cancellations and refunds Cancellations must be made in writing: they may be sent via email or mailed to the address below and become effective on the date received. Your tour deposits are non-refundable. The remaining balance is refundable until 4 months prior to the start of your tour; half of the remaining balance is refundable until 2 months prior to the start of your tour. All fees become non-refundable two months before the start of the tour. Payments made less than two months before a tour departs are non-refundable.
Tour Cancellation/Interruption Protection Your tour price includes Tour Cancellation/Interruption Protection. You will receive a detailed explanation of this protection in the Pre-Tour Planner enclosed with your initial confirmation letter. If we cancel a tour you have reserved, the entire amount you have paid for the applicable tour will be refunded within 14 days from the tour's cancellation. You may instead choose to transfer to another tour with space available as outlined above. Turas Adventures and its representatives will have no other obligations to tour members on cancelled trips including any additional costs or fees related to the issuance and/or cancellation of airline tickets or other travel reservations not booked by Turas Adventures.
Tour forms, obligations, and risks To travel on a tour, and to qualify for Tour Cancellation/Interruption Protection, all tour members are required to sign and return a Release and Waiver Agreement prior to the beginning of a tour. Any pre-existing physical, mental, or emotional disability that may require attention or treatment must be reported before beginning the tour. Omitting important information, or altering the Release and Waiver Agreement, will render it and your Tour Cancellation/Interruption Protection invalid, and could result in expulsion from a tour at your own expense. Please understand that to keep costs down, and because it may be unobtainable in any event, Turas Adventures provides only limited protection up to the tour price (minus the deposit amount), and only in certain qualifying, unforeseen circumstances.
Turas Adventures has no additional travel or health coverage to protect tour participants. Tour members intentionally assume the many risks inherent in European travel. You may consider purchasing optional comprehensive travel and health insurance for your trip.
Participation Travel is all about experiencing new things – if it weren’t, we’d all staycation rather than vacation. Tour members are expected to be flexible and open-minded, as many of the most memorable parts of your adventure will come from your misadventures. Tour members are also expected to use their best manners toward one another at all times.
We believe strongly that when we travel, all should behave they would as guests in another’s home. It sometimes happens that someone participating in a tour can misbehave or do things that are incompatible with the safety, comfort or convenience of other members of the tour. In those circumstances we have the exclusive right and discretion to expel anyone from a tour at any time, without any claims or complaints by you against us.
Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on all tour activities, including lodging, at all times.
The information provided during the tour is for your own personal enjoyment and not for professional use. Recording guide lectures for professional purposes and soliciting business from tour members while on tour or afterward is strictly prohibited.
Physical activity The logistics of travel in Ireland can be considerably different than those in the United States. On any Turas Adventure you should be capable of, the following levels of activity without any assistance:
Carry or roll your own luggage for up to 15 minutes over uneven pavement from the mini-bus to your accomodations, and carry it up as many as three flights of stairs to reach your room.
Be comfortable walking as much as two-hours, climbing stairs, hopping on and off public transportation, and standing and walking for up to four hours inside museums and outdoors in any type of weather.
Sleep with limited air conditioning and some street noise in some accommodations.
After getting oriented, be able to navigate towns and cities on your own.
Our tour guides cannot provide assistance for any of these activities. Tour members requiring help must be accompanied by an able companion who can be entirely responsible for providing assistance. (If you have concerns about any of these physical demands, please contact us.)
Luggage Again, the logistics of travel in Ireland can be considerably different and you must be able to carry or roll your own luggage for up to 15 minutes over uneven pavement from the mini-bus to your accommodations, and carry it up as many as three flights of stairs to reach your room. Each tour member is allowed to bring just one airline-carry-on-size piece of luggage (approx. 21" x 14" x 9") plus a small day pack or shoulder bag. Your Pre-Tour orientation includes tips for packing light and creatively, but we recommend the “Roll & Roll” method: roll your clothes rather than folding them to maximize space, then roll your luggage around the block – if you can’t make it, you’ve packed too much!
Smoking policy Smoking and the use of all tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, is NOT allowed on the mini-bus, in accommodations, or during group meals. Tour members may smoke only outdoors downwind from the group and only where not prohibited.
